Alan's castle is simply constructed. I built a platform with 1 - 4' x 8' sheet of 3/4" ACX plywood supported with 2" x 6" frame. I stood 6 - 4' x 8' sheet of 3/4" ACX plywood on end screwed them at the joints with 2" x 4" battens to 5' level. I made another frame out of 2" x 4" at the 5' level and set one more sheet of 4' x 8' sheet of 3/4" ACX plywood as the upper floor. I cut the windows, the draw bridge, access to the upper floor and the crenelation after the basic box was constructed. I built a ladder to the upper floor and a railing around the hole so children would not accidently fall down the ladder hole. There was no trap door as it could be accidently dropped on another child's head. The drawbridge did not close but acted as a ramp to access the castle.
