The 17th century was a time of
intense religious feeling, and nowhere was that feeling more intense than in

There a devout young man, Isaac Newton, was finally to

Newtonian physics supports the mechanistic view God created the
Universe as a perfect machine requiring
no further interference.

has culminated in the replacement of circular clocks with digital clocks,
obliterating the last remaining link between measured time and
the cyclical processes of Nature.
The
purpose of clocks is to coordinate human activity, not 'measure
time.'

the pysche from the enslavement of time measurement.
