"Prudent minds use a natural gift

a common possession of everyone.

What is this safeguard?

Skepticism.

This you must preserve.

This you must retain.

Hold it and you need fear no harm."

Demosthenes

One day a man came to the great teacher Bahaudin.

He asked for guidance on the path of the Way.

Bahaudin told him, 'Abandon spiritual studies, and leave at once.'

A kind-hearted visitor began to remonstrate with Bahaudin.

'You shall have a demonstration,' said the sage.

At that moment a bird few into the room, darting hither and thither, not knowing where to go in order to escape.

The Sufi waited until the bird settled near the only open window of the chamber; and then suddenly clapped his hands.

Alarmed, the bird flew straight through the open window to freedom.

'To him that sound must have been something of a shock, even an affront, do you not agree!' said Bahaudin.

Conventional wisdom is the social cultural imprint

Conventional wisdom is manufactured consent.

Consent is manufactured by corporate news media, public schools, the medical establishment, churches, corporations and the government.

Conventional wisdom is the result of the need for conformity.

The system that programs the public consciousness by manufacturing consent can predict and measure responses with probes.

Programmed and conditioned rational response to stimulus is predictable.

Conditioning process' hide intuitive shaping choices at the crossroads.

Perception of reality will always be contained within parameters of thought.

Obsession with avoiding critical thinking allowed blind acceptance of conventional wisdom for over a century, its time for redemption.

"The human understanding resembles not a dry light, but resembles a tincture of the will and passions, which generate their own system accordingly: for man always believes more readily that which he prefers.

In short, his feelings imbue and corrupt his understanding in innumerable and sometimes imperceptible ways." - Francis Bacon

"I write this in the year 2012, a year that many belief systems regard as transitional or transformational, even cataclysmic.

Science, tradition and myth seem to be converging." - Laurence Overmire

"Mind has two levels by nature.

The first level is the clear experience of knowing.

The ultimate nature of the mind is experienced with the realization of the absence of inherent existence one's own mind." - Tenzin Gyatso

objectivism

"The moral life consists in following the course that leads to the
greatest long-run happiness achievable
of the individual concerned."

Henry Hazlitt

"Although McDonaldization offers powerful advantages, it has a downside.

Efficiency, predictability, calculability, and control through nonhuman tech-nology can be thought of as the basic components of a rational system.

However, rational systems inevitably spawn irrationalities.

The downside of McDonaldization will be dealt with systematically under the heading of the irrationality of rationality; paradoxically, the irrationality of rationality can be thought of as the fifth dimension of McDonaldization.

Rational systems inevitably spawn irrational consequences.

Rational systems serve to deny human reason; rational systems are often unreasonable." - George Ritzer, The McDonaldization of Society

Objectivism holds:

reality exists independent of consciousness;

individuals are in contact with reality through sensory perception;

human beings can gain objective knowledge from perception through the process of concept formation and inductive and deductive logic;

the only social system consistent with this morality is full respect for individual rights, embodied in pure laissez-faire capitalism;

the role of art in human life is to transform metaphysical ideas;

the proper moral purpose of one's life is the pursuit of one's own happiness through rational self-interest.

Mostly overlooked in the definition of objectivism is the implied reality that if you coöperate with your neighbor your neighbor will coöperate with you, also known as the exercise of the "Golden Rule."

If you treat others fairly with respect they are inclined to treat you fairly with respect - ie. in accord with their own rational self-interest.

If they do not you will quit doing business with them - unless they hold a monopoly on scarce resources or power.

Note: Laissez-faire capitalism = Anarchy
